Pawling - Ranked 18th Best City in NY

Did you know that according to SteetAdvisor, Pawling, NY is ranked as the 18th best city in NY? That's quite a distinction for our small town in Southeastern Dutchess County. Our community boasts a lovely village center with shops and restaurants and we also offer an easy commute to NYC via train and the Route 22/I684 corridor.

If you have a friend, relative or acquaintance that is interested in buying a home in Pawling, what advice would you give to them? From a Pawling Real Estate perspective, there are a few things that I would want them to consider. First off, I would tell them that the Village of Pawling and Town of Pawling are total separate entities and that there are pros and cons to life here based on which location you choose.

In this post, I'll start with what I'd tell a family buying in the Village of Pawling. I'd say that the Village is currently experiencing a large development boom. Multi-use buildings are being renovated with upscale apartments above street level shops. It seems like every month we are seeing more positive change. This means more shopping, restaurants and bakeries are popping up to choose from. Just in the last few months we've added a new toy store, and a new bakery (click text for links). All this development will, most likely, increase property values in the Village which should be sweet music to Village home buyers. If you choose to live in the 2 square miles that make up the Village of Pawling, you'll find that everything is close, convenient and relatively walkable. (I have spent most of my 50 plus years living in the village). The village also offers most home owners hook ups to village water and sewer services, as well as weekly garbage pick-up.

Please leave a comment and let me know what you would want to tell someone buying a home in Pawling! I look forward to hearing your thoughts!
